When ever you Google Sanskrit village so many articles appears about Mattur, it was created temptation inside me that once in a life must visit that Village but is it worth to visit....?
Day One 18th July 2015
As per the plan me my fried Suraj kick off our trip around 0800hrs from Perla, our plan was leisure ride to Shimoga. Whole day drizzling lightly, so not get chance to take out our Cameras.
Around 1200hrs reached Agumbe took breakfast cum lunch and headed towards Shimoga via Thirtahalli. After crossing Agumbe heavy downpour started. On the way visited Mandagadde Bird sanctuary and Upper Thunga Dam and reached Shimoga by 1530hrs and take room at Sundar Ashraya lodge at Shimoga town.
Around 6PM just walked around the bus stand premises and visited Big bazaar after taking food at lodge and return back to the room.
Day Two 19th July 2015
We were not in hurry had plenty of time so vacated the lodge around 0700hrs and went to the Mathur Village whenever I Google search about this village I almost get similar picture and opinion, like every villagers are speaking Sankrit and well educated clean village etc. These things are fueled my curiosity, so decided to visit the Mattur.
From Shimoga took a Bangalore road and after crossing Tunga River Bridge a small road take to this Village. After crossing the scenic areca nut field reached a small village called Mattur which is located in the bank of River Tunga.
To be frank all my curiosity washed out, only Brahmin street is clean and rest of the village is as same as other villages, when we enquire about what to see in this village a man directed us to visit a temple called Shivalaya. It looks like a garden.
after visiting there went back to the temple which is located in the banks of Tunga River, It's also not clean, only worth to see is flowing River Tunga.
After visiting the village asked direction for Sringeri Via Koppa, villagers showed a short cut route, this road was newly built one very slippery but managed to get outside the village and took superb tarmacked road of which leads to Koppa Via N R Pura.
Around 1130hrs reached N R Pura took delicious brake fast filled up fuel and headed towards Sringeri from there heavy rain accompanied till we reach to Perla.
On the way just visited Sringeri Temple and continued around 1630hrs reached Perla. Totally it was good monsoon raid enjoyed a lot but sad thing is minimum photos because rain didn't permit us to take our SLR out from the bag.
