This is not my first trip to Sringeri I had already visited
Sringeri in my Rainy trail Sringeri and Horanadu is one of the pleasant tourist
oriented temple town and culturally very
rich having heritage so decided to spend one full day at Sringeri.

As per the plan me and Karthik left home by 0700hrs, around
0845hrs reached SK Boarder via Vittal, B.C Road, Moodabidri & Karkala till
there nothing to see. After entering personal and vehicle details in forest
check post entered inside the Kudremukha range forest, near the check post
brought some fresh pineapple.
Winding Malaghat roads are properly tarmacked, both the side
with lush green forest accompanied forest music.

As soon as start the uphill drizzling started, traffic was less and we also had plenty of time so cruised leisurely. From the junction took kerekatte road, due to rain and heavy wind bamboo trees were fall down to road caused road block near the forest check post, cars and two wheelers were easily passed on mud track and reached Sringeri around 1130hrs.
Managed to get one decent lodge with two wheeler parking
near the Police station and dumper luggage and freshened up. Around 1215hrs
visited Sri Sharada temple complex, after the Darshana of main devotee and Ganapati temple took Prasada Bhojana at
temple. We have ample time so took plenty of photographs and around 14hrs
returned to the lodge.

Next planning was to visit Sirimane falls and Kigga Village
which is famous for the Rishya Shringeshwara temple which located in front of the Huge Narasimha
parvata the tallest peak in the Agumbe range.

To reach Sirimane falls we have to go via Kigga village and
when we reached there the road was blocked by traffic barricades, the shop
keeper told that road was closed for maintenance, as per the direction of the
shopkeeper we turned back and reached outskirt of the Kigga village and took
another road to reach Sirimane falls.

After crossing a small bridge road condition was start to go bad, at the view point of the falls paid entry and parking fees and took some photos, it was not much crowded, a small tea shop also built near the falls, changing rooms parking place faculties also there.

After crossing a kilometer just enquired the direction with
school boys , they were happily directed us, here one thing I would like to say
that the happiness which reflects in their faces will not get in city life, their
pretty eyes, tension free mind helping nature, waving hands, were took me my child hood life.

It’s around 1530 rain also coming intermittently, shop
keeper preparing hot Mirchi Bajji and tea we couldn’t resist took a plate of
hot bajji really HOT.

After that we went back to Kigga temple while enroute to
Kigga got many tourist vehicles on bad stretch oncoming car drivers start to
ask whether they drive the cars till falls.

Around 1600hrs reached Rishya Shringeshwara temple, it is
one of the oldest temple built between the scenic beauties, at the backdrop
huge Narasimha Parvata one of the tallest peak of Agumbe range.
After visiting temple went back to Sringeri parked ‘Bull at
lodge and went back to the Temple complex and started to explore the surroundings.
The huge colorful newly built Gopuram charm to eyes , every minutes things are well
built. Now the bridge connected to Guru Nivasa was opened so crossed the river
and walk around there. From the bride we can get superb view of temple complex.

We have plenty of time no hurry so spent some more times
sitting in the river banks, due to high stream in the river fishes are not
found. The flowing river, calm and peaceful environment enhance the peace of
mind, it is really good to forget the entire tensions of the life. After taking
food at temple returned to the lodge and went to bed.

Road block enroute to Agumbe

After passing the Main Arch of the temple which is located at Kundadri village start to climb the hill, but a big forest gate welcomed us. Yes it was closed, so there is no option because it is located mid of the forest and nobody was there to ask anything.

So went back to the village and enquired with the villagers,
one young man told us we can get gate key from Poojari’s (temple priest) house
which is located just few meter from the main arch.
When we reached three a huge barking dog welcomed us… thank god Poojari also came behind the dog along with the key.

He directed us that while returning from the temple, if nobody was there then keep the gate close, and ride carefully because weather was not good, due to heavy wind trees are falling and previous day some travelers who went to the hill trapped between the fallen trees.

Kundadri hill is located between dense forest of western ghat and 17th century old Jain temple is built there. In summer we can see the Kundadri village from the top, (you can check it here) but now it’s difficult to see just few feet.

After ascending the hill kept gate closed and returned the key to Poojari, and headed towards Agumbe around 0930hrs reached Agumbe a small and beautiful town and took breakfast near the bus stand, there we met a Gujarti family who came from Gujarat on their Scorpio. The man told that when they reached Agumbe the pleasant enjoyable weather forced them to stay one day at there.
